DON'T MISS THE DEADLINE!!!

Remember, the deadline for submission for the Lotus Awards for Best Open Source Contribution by an Individual and Best Open Source Contribution by a Business Partner is FRIDAY So if you haven't gotten your nominations in, make sure you finish them and get them posted by FRIDAY .  No need to finish early, of course.  Just get it submitted by FRIDAY and you should be okay.  You'll be able to compete against Tim Tripcony's submission for Dennis, as long as you submit your nomination by FRIDAY.

Comments

1 - Is it really Friday, I thought it was today, Wednesday, the 6th.

2 - ok, you fooled me. My pain killers from the surgery is messing with me.

3 - Emoticon Even with Alt-text on the 'Friday' links I think you should have clarified that you are only joking and that the final day for entry is TODAY.

Nomination deadline for categories listed below is January 6, 2010 at 11:55 P.M. Eastern Standard Time (New York).

* Best in Lotusphere Showcase
* Chief Technology Officer Innovation Award (CTO)
* VAD of the Year Award
* Best Open Source Contribution by an Individual
* Best Open Source Contribution by a Business Partner

4 - Good to know your sense of humour is as intact as ever, Declan. Emoticon

5 - As evidenced by Jack's initial comment, somebody could read this and think that the deadline was extended or something. Maybe they read it in an RSS reader that didn't show the links and therefore were missing the alt-text.

My sense of humor is perfectly fine, I don't see this as a joke. If this post has been about the Lotus CTO award I'm sure people entering in for that award would not take kindly to it and see it as a way of trying to cut down on the competition.

6 -
#Fail.

7 - Wasn't this done in some 3rd world countries election, where they told people to come back and vote tomorrow? Those folks missed the humour too.

8 - I have to agree with Dec and Andrew and Carl... given the "colorful" background behind some of the history of OpenNTF, doing something like this is questionable. You're assuming that someone would click or mouse over your Friday links, and that's not necessarily the case.

Makes no difference to me, as I'm not entering, competing, judging, or doing anything else in that area. But I can see where the humor may well be lost on some...

9 - The ALT text isn't showing for me (probably due to some incredibly stupid restriction on my browser or proxy at work), so I completely missed the joke until I saw the comments. I'm like Duffbert, makes no difference to me because I'm not involved in any way, but I don't think Dec's wrong. Emoticon

10 - Actually, I was assuming that people would reply screaming about it being a joke, which is exactly what happened. Of course, they could also follow the links, every one of which points out that the deadline is today.

I'm curious as to whether any of the commenters are actually submitting for the award(s) and if so, whether they were unaware of the deadline.

11 - I read this in my feed reader and didn't know it was a joke until I saw the comments. I didn't know the awards were even happening, and I'm not very clear on what's going on. It looks like this is all about individuals self-nominating their solutions, not other people nominating solutions they use. It seems weird, but I guess that's one way to do it.

I do think the misleading dates is in poor taste. If you really wanted to let people know the deadline you should have just said it outright. Why the subterfuge if you knew people wouldn't get the joke?

12 - This post kind of says it all. As I believe the hip n groovy kids (and Andrew Emoticon ) say, #fail.

13 - Thanks for that totally after-the-fact input, Ben. Where would we be without you?
