My Latest Project (or Freeman 2.0)

The heart rate was 154BPM. I was singing Flight of the Bumble Bee along with the ultrasound speaker.
We're using the latest in genetic algorithms and self-modifying iterative code on this new project.  Truthfully, the approach is beyond me, so I'm strictly oversight and logistics now that the program is seeded.  The specifications aren't complete yet, but expected ship date is 24 Feb 2009.

I'm sure Lisa will never let me, but I'm partial to the following names: Nicholas Stuart or Natalie Sawyer.

Comments

1 - Congratulations!
You are embarking on the greatest project and adventure of them all!
Will you stop smoking?
Emoticon stw

2 - WOOT! Congratulations to you both.

-Devin.

3 - Congrats man!

While I did not have any hand in this, I feel like I was involved in your learning about it. For everyone else ... Nathan and I were driving from Westford at the XPages Training last month to Boston, trying to get him on a flight home. The GPS sucked and we made every wrong turn possible. In the middle of all this, Lisa called Nathan and told him. Man, after that, we did everything we could so he made his flight! :)

4 - Congrats Nathan !!!

5 - @3 - LOL. Yeah, that was nerve wracking. But it would have sucked to not be able to get home to Lisa on the day I found out!

No such risks shall be taken in the month of Feb. kthx. :)

6 - As I've already told you - many congrats to you and Lisa!!!

7 - CONGRATS! You left yourself a small buffer to get home and recover from Lotusphere in time to welcome the new addition.

8 - Simply wonderful, congratulations!

9 - Congratulations!

And nicely appropriate use of yellow Emoticon

10 - CONGRATS!!! The NTF is replicating! Emoticon
Please give Lisa my hugest congrats first, and my email address second. Emoticon

11 - Congrats on the replica stub. I think I'll enter "create relpica from two different source databases" in IdeaJam.

12 - One more thing..I hope you used the non-Lamarckian hair coloring.

13 - I predict that this child will be born with bright yellow hair!
Congratulations to both of you...

14 - Congratulations to you and Lisa! But quite honestly, with everything else you do, how did you find the time? Emoticon

15 - @14 - He must have started using eProductivity for Notes. Or was that eREProductivity?

16 - @14 - Ha! The kickoff meeting only took 5 minutes! Emoticon

@10 - I can't believe I didn't think to make a replication joke myself.

To all, we really are thinking of painting the nursery yellow. And you can certainly expect lots of baby pictures in yellow clothing.

17 - Congratulations!

The template is now ready for production Emoticon

But I also think you might want to add a "Beta" after "Freeman 2.0" because there will be many "changes" in the lifespan of this particular product.

18 - @17, yes, he'll have to perform special IsDirty and IsClean checks frequently to see if it's been changed. Emoticon

19 - Congratulations to both Lisa and you!

20 - Congratulations, sir! That's awesome.

21 - But did you find the magic button? Emoticon

22 - Congrats and welcome to the club...your life will never be the same and you will be so happy that it won't!

23 - By the way, we'll have to get you Ollie's IBM bib: { Link } Emoticon

24 - Congrats Nathan Emoticon

25 - Congratulations to you and Lisa! Your lives will never be the same again (and I mean that in a good way). And should you (or she) need a little help with picking a name, here's something that may help: { Link }

26 - Oh Nathan and Lisa, CONGRATS!!!

27 - Survival of the fittest! Good to know Darwin cuts both ways Congrats man!Emoticon

28 - Congrats! The little NSF's are lot's of fun, but I'll be damned if I can figure out the API in order to get them to do what I want. Emoticon

29 - Cool ! Another one to expand our community! Congrats NTF.

30 - Mazel Tov! That's wonderful news.

So, you thought you were busy now? :)

31 - hahahahaha!! congrats sir!!!!!!!

32 - Congrats - great news! Freebaby!

33 - @32 - Uhhhh... I'm sure the baby will be quite expensive. Emoticon

34 - Oh this is gonna be good Emoticon. Congrats man. May be cuttin' it close for Lotusphere though, so you may need to spend extra for a robust backup solution. I would suggest some variation of the "fly mother-in-law out to keep momma-to-be company at the full-service spa resort for several days" solution.

35 - Man, you guys have this all wrong! It can't be a replica. It's obviously a New Database, inheriting its design from the "NTF" NTF Emoticon Oh, and some added design docs inheriting specifically from the "Lisa" template, of course. Congratulations!

36 - @33 you got that right Emoticon Hearty congratulations to both you and Lisa, splendid news!

37 - Having just been through it, I can attest to the amount of fun involved. Emoticon
Check out namenerds.com. A friend of mine runs it and it's pretty unique amongst sites in that it condenses the name frequency lists combining like names (Kate, Katherine, Catherine, etc).
It's also one of the two concepts I was going to try to do a XPages driven facebook app for. Emoticon

38 - Congratulations! If Nicholas Stuart is vetoed, how about Oliver Daniel?

Of course, there's always the gender-neutral Morgan. Emoticon

39 - @34 - Fortunately, both mother's live within easy distance of Lotusphere, mine in Tallahassee, hers in Sarasota. Her brother and his wife live in Orlando as well.

We're going to see how she feels in January about coming to 'sphere. There is quite a nice spa at the Dolphin, but it's ridiculously expensive.

@38 & 35 - Ah... somebody finally got the joke!

40 - Congrats, my friend. Life will take a turn for the hectic that you couldn't have imagined possible. And I mean that in the best possible way.

41 - LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh

42 - (I write that as I play gleefully with gross^6, and no, that's not a typo for *, noise levels aren't linear... you'll find out when you catch up LOL bwaaaahahahahahah *snark* heh heh oops there I go again)

43 - Congratulations! Of course, if I had to pick a name, it would be Gordon. Emoticon

44 - Yikes.

Welcome to responsibility, no sleep, no money and of course, crap music in your house for the next 18 years.. Emoticon

(My daughter had 'Barbie Girl' playing on rewind for THREE years).

Congratulations!

45 - Congratulations to all Freemans involved!

46 - @43 - AH! An excellent choice!

47 - Congratulations (to you both). @1 is right - it's the best adventure. My advice - get as much sleep as you can now and enjoy waking up when you want to Emoticon

48 - Congratulations!!

49 - Congratulations! Wishing all the best for your new 'project' and the 'Framework' for your application!

50 - How did your wife manage to swallow an Ethernet hub? And why are all the lights lit?

51 - Baby names:

If it's a girl, Gidget Moe
If it's a boy, Lando Calrissian

52 - @51 - Is Turtle really allowed to do this?

53 - Congratulations to you and Lisa. As many have said, your lives will changes in wonderful ways you just can't anticipate. Oh and don't expect to sleep well again for the next, oh, ? 20 yrs ?

54 - Excellent, excellent news Nathan.
Im sure all will go well for you and yours....

55 - Congratulations!

56 - Sorry I'm so late to the comment list about this, but just read it! Wow! Congrats to you and yours! Leave it to you Nathan to find an interesting way to break the news to us. Emoticon

57 - Congrats to my favorite brother and sister-in-law! THANK YOU for giving us a new toy! I can't wait to see you guys!Emoticon

58 - Congratulations! Best of luck to you both...Emoticon

59 - Congrats N8! Lotusphere will be tight in January 2009. Lack of sleep during March to May will not be so bad, you simply won't remember much, LOL.

EVERYONE is going to offer advice, whether you want it or not. You'll need a full text index to sort it all out. Here's my 2cents:

Baby Depot and Walmart and the like have many gadgets to make life easier. Spare no expense, get the best rocking chair, crib and furniture now while you still can. Get the evenflo bottles and plenty of spare nipples both stage 1 and 2. Get the wipe-warmer. Get a Diaper Genie II (best invention ever). Get a Sam's Club membership for wipes, diapers, and formula if needed. Get a baby bottle brush and one of those steam sanitizers for the bottles. This fall when your wife is "nesting", best to just get out of the way and do what you are told and lift heavy stuff. It is perfectly normal to spend those first couple of months that won't remember chatting about baby poop. "The Poop Report" will happen daily.

60 - @59 - Lisa's a preschool teacher. I get regular Poop Reports already, often over dinner. Emoticon

There's a Babies 'R Us across the street from my office. We've already gone perusing in there. But I think I'm going to sick my bargain hunting mother on the challenge of "find less expensive ways to meet these 10 needs" kind of thing. She is to home accessorizing what Notes is to business applications.

61 - Good advice Paul. The cost of the Sam's club membership will definitely be offset by the savings in formula (if you go that route). Diapers and wipes aren't that much cheaper there, but formula definitely is worth it!

Wipe warmer? Nah, they don't get THAT cold!! Emoticon Use the saved money to buy another can of formula. Bottles also do well in the dishwasher where they're also steamed. Save that money and get a couple packs of diapers! Emoticon Definitely get the Diaper Genie as well!!

If you have a boy, we may have some seasonally-correct clothing left from Ollie since he's a March baby, but Jen's already consigned a good bit of stuff. Emoticon

62 - A 'wipe warmer'?

I've heard it all now...

63 - @62 - Ben, the wipe warmer is the difference between a baby that cries during a diaper change, and one that turns into a fire alarm. No kidding. I know it sounds trivial, but that screaming, man...it's maddening! I mean, just think about it; how would your like your feet hoisted skyward and a glass of cold water poured on your dark matter in the middle of the night?

64 - @63. I have three kids Emoticon

65 - You go, Nephew!!! Congrats, R n J

66 - Wow congratulations!

I know I'm late but I couldn't figure out what the topic was about from google reader alone - no pic Emoticon

67 - Congrats man! Way to pick the date - well clear of Lotusphere... Emoticon

68 - Congrats Nathan (and Lisa) and good planning on the dates :)

69 - Congratulations!

Hope the "delivery" won't be a month early Emoticon

Thomas

70 - That is truly marvelous!

Congratulations to both of you!
Emoticon

71 - Congrats to you both! I'm not sure who will have the bigger adventure: you two or the baby! Emoticon

72 - Heard about this but missed it in postings.
As they say in the holy land B'shaa tova and as they say in the Godfather, may your first child be a masculine one.

Get some sleep now, you'll need it then!

73 - Great news!! And, the added benefit is that I'll finally be able to get rid of the Jenny Lind(?) crib in my attic! Do you think the baby's first word will be "Aristotle?"
