Reusable code

Helping a customer out with some maintenance coding today, and spotted this gem in a Javascript library...
/****************************
You can use this script freely as long as this copyright message is kept intact
/****************************

I'm speechless.

Comments

1 - Whenever I "borrow" code I make sure to remove ALL the comments and change ALL the variable names, to at least make it appear like maybe I wrote it. Emoticon

2 - Sorry, I can't understand - what' the problem with this?

3 - @2 - I was wondering if I was being too terse. Emoticon

The copyright message was not, in fact, kept intact. It had been removed. So someone went through the trouble of removing the copyright message, but left in the message indicating that they weren't supposed to remove the copyright.

As far as I'm concerned, whoever put this in was bragging that they'd stolen the code!

4 - Looks like someone didn't pay attention to the message.

5 - The real WTF is that... oh, wait... wrong site.

6 - So did you find the copyright message and put it back in or did you turn the customer over to the authorities Emoticon

7 - Nah, that WAS all of the original copyright message ... :-P

8 - The real WTF to me is that someone felt the need to "steal" a freely-given-away Javascript library. Emoticon
