Lotus 911's Yellowbration: FREE STUFF!!!

I really don't know how I'm going to top the yellow hair at 'sphere 2009
In celebration of the first annual Ye118w Day, I've gotten the okay to make an announcement I've been waiting months to make!

The Carousel plugin for Notes 8.0.1+ is available for immediate download from the right-hand download list.  This package includes the Contacts demo, which automatically installs the plugin for you, along with a PDF document in the Using this Application page that details how you can incorporate the plugin into your own applications.

Here's the great part: every Notes shop on earth is entitled to 10 licenses, absolutely free.

Download it.  Install it.  Read the documentation.  Take apart the design.  Learn.  Experiment.  And if you decide you want to roll it out to users, here's the pricing...

$10/user.  If you want to stay current with updates after that, there's a maintenance cost of $2/user.

If you'd like assistance in implementing it, or you'd like to request an enhancement, you can do so at our normal services rate.  Contact our team at services@lotus911.com for more information.

Remember that Carousel allows you to present images that are attachments to the documents in the view, as well as images retrieved live via HTTP, so you can integrate with any web source where you can find an image file, such as the Google Charts API.

If you have additional questions or feedback, the BEST place to present it is the Carousel Blog on bleedyellow.com.  But, of course, I'll monitor here as well.

P.S.: There's also a set of Ye118wday wallpapers on the right-hand download bar, if you'd like to do what I did and have that as your desktop background all day.

UPDATE: So Ben and Keith don't know what Carousel is.  And you call yourselves yellow bleeders!??!?!

See here and here for details.

Comments

1 - I might be stupid, but is there somewhere that actually tells me what Carousel is/does? Maybe a screenshot?

2 - Forgive my absolute ignorance.
What is carousel? You're blog on it says nothing about it, which is funny in itself.
Read the pdf. It's a picture veiwer for contacts?

Get errors "no Resume" from Notes client while trying to click on the demo users. client running 8.5 Emoticon

You can see my Monday is not going well so far.

3 - @2 - Carousel doesn't work with 8.5. They changed the way a lot of the plugin stuff works, and I haven't recompiled for that environment. And frankly, I don't intend to until AT LEAST the next public beta.

They broke it... not me. Emoticon

4 - Sorry Nathan, those links didn't help all that much. I now know that Andrew and a million others think of it, but still don't know wtf it is.

Is there just a simple overview somewhere?

e.g. Carousel is a notes plug-in that.....

Cheers,

Ben (never claimed to bleed yellow)

5 - well you know my memory of sphere 08 is a little rusty, and don't recall actually seeing this in usage at the booth. Just remember some guy with yellow hair doing podcasts all day long. LOL

Seriously, the pdf intro is not something you can say or even give to a client and have them understand it at all unless they were a developer.

Bummer about 8.5, but since 802 wont install on my vista laptop, 8.5 it is.

6 - @4 & 5, the second link in the update has a whole bunch of videos you can download that explain it. { Link } But in essence, it's a Notes 8 plug-in that exchanges data with a Notes view to allow for real-time renderings of image data from the view in an animated rotating interface.

You have to see it in order for it to make any sense.

There's an animated GIF inline at Bob Balfe's blog: { Link }

7 - Just some feedback, I don't download videos without reading a synopsis...it would be like renting a video without reading who is in it or the information on the back cover. Not usually a good idea.

If one needs to see it, maybe a streaming youtube would have more appeal? Sadly, time is not as available as it once was and I don't really have time to go downloading and unzipping random files just in case it may be of interest. I'm sure I'm not alone there.

With the help of Bob Balfe, I now get the idea...thanks Bob.

8 - @7 - Sorry for imposing on your time, Ben.
