A pleasant surprise

ZDNet.co.uk has compiled a rogues' gallery of annoying software.  Guess what didn't appear on the list?

Guess what did?

I suppose it's faint praise to not be ranked with RealPlayer and Norton AntiVirus.  Still, it's a nice change of pace from us yellow bleeders always having sand kicked in our collective face.

1 - Dude, that is hilarious!!!

"with major updates happening every four years or so that's a long time to be looking at a non-threaded, licence-restricted storage- squeezed, treacle-slow-searching email system. Especially while the online services get better and better, and doubly so now that email is the single most important business application ever created."

Great summary of Outlook! And I'm glad it wasn't some blogger pointing out those deficiencies.

But Nathan, why are you harping so much on the competition? Can't we find more productive things to do? Emoticon

Between this and Carl's post showing that Outlook uses more energy than Notes, it's a good day so far! Emoticon

2 - no wonder Google is ruling the planet. everything they listed could fall under the unapproving gaze of the "Do No Evil" maxim. they're right on the money. in particular i've never understood why we let Real get away with it all these years. those guys are evil squared.

3 - I haven't allowed Real Player on a machine of mine or of a family member for almost 8 years, I think. That software is absolutely cancerous. I can't stand it.
