What day is it?

Thursday, 4:50 am - Dolphin Lobby, Walt Disney World Resort.

We're in the home stretch now.  Only GURUPalooza to go, where I'll be taking the stage with all the other BP presenters for an hour of Q&A.  I'd thought before that since I only did one presentation (did it twice, though) that I'd be able to phone it in.  But John Head pointed out last night that he and I are the only ones on stage with hands-on experience with Notes 8 who are NOT under NDA for the conference.  I'm not sure if that's completely accurate, but if it is, I suspect we're going to hog a lot of the conversation.  Then again, we're both people that might well have done that anyway.

I could probably write for a month about all that's gone on here this week, and I still feel like I've barely scratched the surface.  I didn't get to spend any time in the usability labs.  I only walked through Meet the Developers twice.  I'm pretty sure there were entire wings where I never had the chance to even go figure out what was there!

Response to our BP101 session has been overwhelming.  I didn't want to admit how anxious I was about it, since there are so many people here who's opinions matter to me.  We'd also made a big point of promoting it in the weeks leading up, so hopefully people felt like we delivered.  I guess we'll see when the evals come in.  But all the support we got from blogger & forum friends has been fantastic.

Meeting Chris Blatnick in person has also been great.  He's obviously talented, but he's also fun, personable and generally a great guy to have at your side when the pressure's on.  Hopefully we'll get more opportunity to work together in the future!  *crosses fingers*  I think there's some interest in us doing sessions at some of the other Lotus-oriented conferences, too.

I didn't get to go to many presentations myself.  Obviously Worst Practices was a biggie.  Ray Bilyk's Extreme Makeover presentation was a good selection of new stuff that people might have missed in Notes 6 & 7.  Ed & Julian did a great job on their Selling Notes session, but perhaps I'm being generous 'cause they pimped our repeat session.  John & Alan's OpenOffice.org presentation started a little slow, but picked up some great speed about the time I had to leave -- sorry I missed your big reveal!  (Note: they provided line-by-line discussions on exact code, so it was incredibly useful information - please don't think I'm being critical of their show!)

1 - Nathan, the BP101 was kick a**. Ever since the demos my mind has been racing with ideas. Are you going to post the 300 slide presentation showing how you developed them and the demos? I would love to get my hands on them. I look forward to seeing you again next year and keep up the good work.

2 - I second Russell's comment. I would have to say it was one of the best sessions I went to at Lotusphere just for the fact that you guys showed the true potential of a Notes client app. I havent seen a lot of applications doing what you guys were showing. I also would like to know if you will be posting the larger slideshow and also maybe a sample app that you were showing??

3 - I agree with Russell and John. I’d like to congratulate you and Chris on BP101 – for me it was the highlight of Lotusphere 2007. If I could design Notes applications like those that you demonstrated, I’m sure I could change the opinion of those within our company who believe that all applications should be web-based. Finally, I urge you and Chris to post your presentation to help others to “Save The [Notes] Client”. Perhaps you could even publish your work - I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to buy such a book. Keep up the good work!

4 - I have to also agree with John and Dave. What I saw you and Chris do with the notes client is mind blowing. It's defiantly going to help me in sale notes in my organization since it’s mostly an evil Microsoft shop. If you were to publish your work I would be second in line to Dave to purchasing a copy. I really hope to see you and Chris again next year. I think it would be a big mistake on Lotusphere’s part if they did not invite you back. “Save the Client!”

5 - Thanks for the kind words... Chris and you did an outstanding job! It's made me rethink how I'm teaching the App Dev classes.

BTW, any chance of Lotus911 selling the 'Save the Client - Save the World' shirts (especially in XXL)?
