Lotus911 wins 2008 Lotus Award

QuickImage
IBM has chosen the company I work for with, Lotus911, as the recipient of the Best Philanthropy Award of the Lotus Awards (formerly Beacon Awards) for 2008!

As described on their site:
This category recognizes a Business Partner who has developed an effective solution for a not-for-profit, environmental or humanitarian effort or in support of broader civic participation.

We won this award for the work we did on the Angel Flight Mission Coordinator system, which I was personally a part of, I don't like to toot my own horn so I'll let Nathan do it for me

Angel Flight is a nonprofit organization that organizes flights for sick children and people who cannot afford to get across states to their doctor for treatment.  Most recently, they were an integral part of helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  The organizers and the pilots, who donate their time and resources to this effort, are the real winners here and we are proud to help them in their efforts.

There are a number of Angel Flight organizations around the US, but the 2 that we are currently working with are:
Angel Flight of Georgia and Angel Flight East.

And finally on a personal note..... YAY FOR US!!!

1 - Congratulations to Lotus911! And I'm really proud of the work you did Michael Emoticon

2 - Excellent work! and remember , you work WITH, not for Lotus911...

3 - @Jimmy - noted and corrected. Thanks bossman Emoticon

4 - Mike, I want to personally thank you for the work you are doing. In 2003 my mother was transported by AngelFlight East from Charlotte, NC to Tampa, FL. She was visiting relatives in Charlotte when she suffered an aortic dissection and a stroke. She spent six weeks in a hospital before she was stable enough to travel, and it took another three weeks to coordinate transportation to a hospital closer to where she lived.

I know Lotus911 didn't start working with AngelFlight until 2005 so your solution wasn't in place to help my mother, but I do want to thank you personally for enabling them to do their job better.
