OK, so
We all know how the story goes with IBM marketing particularly with our beloved product Domino..
But coming right off of Lotusphere, with the momentum behind the UI of Notes 8 , now is the time for some serious marketing.
Ya know, Microsoft was there too, and they saw all the same cool stuff we did, along with Oracle, Novell, Google and others.
Microsoft in particular should be getting ready for a HUGE blitz on ripping and replacing Domino with exchange over the NEXT 6 MONTHS for sure.
They know as well as us that after the Notes 8 client hits the street, some 75% of existing Domino shops will migrate as fast as usual (can we say 8.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.a ?) and afterwords may not be so eager to want to jump ship since the final word on why corps "need" to migrate is typically because Notes is just plain ugly.
Now is the time for real marketing. And not the bullshit vague "we have solutions, not software" ads that are currently being displayed (although they are better then we've had in a LONG time)
How about a screenshot!
This is your email on drugs kind of thing?
When it comes to retaining current Notes/Domino customers, its not going to be about selling a solution, its going to be about selling the damn software.
Ah screw it. I'll do it myself
